Primus Pilsner Draught | 5.2% Brussels, Belgium

£60.20

The lineage of Primus makes it the original Belgium Pilsner. It has been brewed to the same Haacht Pilsner recipe for 100 years and still at the traditional standard Belgium strength of 5.2%.

It is matured (‘lagered’) for 14 days during the brewing process.

The beer now takes its name from Jan Primus, the 13th Century Duke of Brabant. As one of the most powerful feudal lords he was also historically significant in showing his appreciation for beer through the special privileges he granted to brewers.

Haacht is the third largest Pilsner brewery in the Belgian market, behind Jupiler and Stella Artois, and pre-dates both for the first ever Belgium brewed Pilsner in the 1920’s.

Tasting Notes: Clear, light-blond in colour with a fine head. Delicate hoppy aromas usher in a flavour that is initially slightly sweet with a touch of bitterness. There then follows a dry and thirst-quenching aftertaste.
