Tondeluna Blanco Joven

A  modern style white Rioja from Vallemayor – a blend of 95% Viura and 5% Sauvignon Blanc.

Picking of the Sauvignon Blanc grapes began two weeks earlier than the Viura during the end of August and the
beginning of September respectively. A soft pressing of the grapes when they arrived to the winery was following by clarifying the juice by flotation with peas protein.

The varietals were fermented separately with temperature control between 12 and 14 ºC. for Sauvignon Blanc and between 14 and 16 ºC. for Viura. LSA was added to enhance natural own aromas. After 19 days the final coupage was clarified with peas protein and bentonite. The first bottling began during the third week of January

Vallemayor has been the principal Rioja agency in Morgenrot’s portfolio for decades. They combine modern technology and traditional knowledge for the elaboration of their wines. Fermentation is in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures.

About the Producer

Bodegas Vallemayor

Vallemayor is the result of the dreams and vision of Luis Perez Foncea. He was forced by an illness to retire from working in the long established family vineyards and began selling wines from his home town of Fuenmayor. After many years he was able to realise his dream of building his own winery to develop his passion for the elaboration of wonderful Rioja wines.

The high quality of these wines ensured a commercial success and Luis’ sons took over in 1996, registering the new name Vallemayor for the still family owned business.

Nowadays Luis Carlos and Rafael Perez run the company with the same passion as their father, and still draw on the advice of their mother Fabiola Gonzalez.

The 70ha estate, growing predominantly Tempranillo, is owned by the family and they have direct control over a further 60ha of local growers. The winery, built in 1984, has undergone recent improvements and expansion. A new visitor centre with a beautiful tasting room now welcomes customers and the high quality of the wines is guaranteed by completely new winemaking machinery.
