MK Gruner Veltliner
MK is the perfect introduction to Austria’s greatest grape, Grüner Veltliner, exhibiting the crunch of green apples and rocket like pepperiness that makes if famous.
It may not be the most aromatic of grapes but it is always refined, with a persona that is chiselled, cool and deeply refreshing. Like the mountains that form the backdrop to the vineyards from which the grapes are sourced, Grüner Veltliner is a variety that impresses.
MK is fermented in stainless steel tanks, though a small quantity is partially aged in large oak casks.
The precipitous vineyards of the Wachau, lie squeezed between the Danubian towns of Melk and Krems. This sun trap provides depth and ripeness to their wines, whilst the cool mountain air promotes elegance and purity. MK is sourced from several of the terraced vineyards to ensure the right balance of richness and freshness. Residual sugar is 1.2g/l.
All the fruit is picked by hand. Harvest in the Wachau stretches a long time – beginning in September and ending in November, as the differences in altitude experienced across the valley affects the speed at which the grapes ripen.
Pale lemon colour with green hints. An elegant nose with aromas of lime and white pepper. Clean, crisp and refreshing with high levels of bright and zesty citrus.
Delicious served cold on its own, or paired with salads, white poultry, fish or Asian dishes which will complement the peppery spice nicely.
