El Gorú Tinto
A Monastrell dominated blend, a varietal that is the mainstay of the winery; with Syrah and Petit Verdot. The label depicts Gorú – a local character who lived as a hermit.
Harvesting is by hand at the optimum ripening time. Each grape variety was fermented and macerated separately for 15-20 days at a controlled temperature no higher than 28C. The wines then have 4 months in American oak barrels.
Ego Bodegas, now a decade old, is a boutique winery driven by three concepts – Ego, Talento, Infinito – which are: Ego, the concept of the self; Talento, the capacity for the performance or execution of an occupation; Infinito, the limitless power of the dream.

A fuller style than the Marionette from the same producer, with 4 months oak ageing. Outstanding intense aroma of black cherries and palma violets; ripe fruit adds a rich mouthfeel with spice, soft tannins, vanilla and cinnamon notes on the finish.
About the Producer
Bodegas Ego
Ego Bodegas has 25ha of vineyards including varieties such as Tempranillo and Syrah, but the main focus is on the local native variety Monastrell – many of these vines are about 50 years old. They are situated in a special location within the region of Jumilla, one of the driest wine areas of Spain. The climate means the grapes grow as small bunches with a good concentration of sugar, excellent acidity and thicker skins.
While the surroundings are rural and rustic, the winery and its technology are both modern and meticulously managed.
