Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy
Beauroy is a Cru noted for a lighter style of Chablis from its SE facing, left bank, vineyards.
Vinification includes yeast and malolactic fermentation in tanks and small barrels, plus 12 months lees ageing in steel tanks and oak barrels that helps give a fleshy, rounded fruit style.
Chablis is possibly the most famous white wine in the world, in fact it is so famous in its own right, it can be overlooked that the wines are exclusively made from the Chardonnay grape.
A discreet bouquet initially that develops with notes of plus a very fresh first impression in the mouth with a touch of menthol. The finish is quite long, allowing expression of the emerging minerality with an accompanying touch of caramel. A Premier Cru that is both fleshy and round.
About the Producer
La Chablisienne
La Chablisienne is a co-operative that dates back to 1923, though it should now be rightly considered a group of nearly 300 winegrowers who have full control over the winery.
The co-operative is represented in each of the 20 villages in Chablis and accounts for one third of all wines from Chablis. Much is sold to Burgundy merchants but that which is bottled under their own labels offers a very reliable quality on all levels.
La Chablisienne won the French Producer of the Year Trophy at the IWSC 2018 – the second time that have scooped this award.
